{"id":548,"date":"2018-05-23T12:30:52","date_gmt":"2018-05-23T16:30:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.spindrift.com\/blog\/?p=548"},"modified":"2025-10-20T02:47:30","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T06:47:30","slug":"listening-rimkus-rotaru","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spindrift.com\/blog\/listening-rimkus-rotaru\/","title":{"rendered":"Listening: Rimkus, Rotaru"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Composer\/bassoonist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brinsolomon.com\/blog\/\">Brin Solomon&#8217;s blog<\/a>&nbsp;reveals a lot of music that is new to me in their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brinsolomon.com\/blog\/?tag=Music+Monday\">Music Monday posts<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking Brin&#8217;s recommendation, I listened to Sarah Rimkus&#8217;s <em>MacLeod Road<\/em> for orchestra, a beautiful work with passages that shimmer with vibraphone bells. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brinsolomon.com\/blog\/2016\/1\/31\/music-monday-rimkus-macleod-road\">Brin&#8217;s review of the piece<\/a> describes the music very well. (Update Jan-2020: the soundcloud track is now gone, but you can find a <a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/sarahrimkus\/docs\/sarah_rimkus_-__macleod_road___prev\">perusal score here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In SoundCloud&#8217;s fashion, it went on immediately to another tune, Doina Rotaru&#8217;s <em>Fragile 2<\/em>.
