100 Notes of Toy Piano

Yesterday (June 2019) I got an email from composer/keyboard player David Bohn that my submission to his call for scores was accepted. A friend found the call on ComposerSite (http://composerssite.com/content/toy-piano-100-project) and he thought it would entertain me. It was for newly composed 100-note compositions for toy piano. I had fun improvising a bit, and I wondered how such a simple piece for toy piano might be convincing.

I wasn’t going to create an immersive sound-world with only 100 notes for an instrument without much sustaining power. So I went with shifting harmonies, hence my title “Shifting Muse”. I’ll post the score later, after the recording phase of the project.

I discovered later that David Bohn has done the Composer’s Voice 15-Minutes-of-Fame several times. Here’s a link to his organ set: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjENiXrFvj0

Update (Nov 2019): Here’s a link to David Bohn’s recording of my 100-note piece, “Shifting Muse”:

Update (Jan 2020): And here’s the score:
