Wordless Prayer is a lament written
in remembrance of the victims of September 11, 2001.
Although for piano, it could also be music for 4-part
choir if only there were words for the inexpressible.
Its g-minor melody weaves between the soprano and alto
voices and Eb major-7th chords are poignant sonorities.
A middle section in Bb major conveys hope amidst this
lament of resignation and acceptance. If you omit the
dedication, the music is appropriate for a contemplative
moment in a worship service or ceremony.
Level: easy-intermediate
Duration 2.25 minutes (2 pages)
There is also a
version for chorus.
